PHOENIX RISING is a play of pain and reclamation; it is an artistic response to a tragic reality.
~ Laura Gosheff
Based on real life experiences, PHOENIX RISING is a glimpse behind the masks of four teenage girls who are struggling to keep up appearances, and keep their demons at bay. With the help of their high school guidance counselor, each reluctantly breaks her silence and reveals her private battle — the shame of sexual assault, the emotional and physical pain of abuse, and the isolation and loneliness of neglect — all while collectively dealing with their grief about the violent death of their friend. Over the course of a year, they find creative ways to face those demons together, and emerge with a greater sense of who they are, and the courage to face tomorrow.
